Qur'an Curriculum
Learning Journey
At Darul Ilm, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to build a lifelong relationship with the Qur'an. Our curriculum has therefore been carefully designed around two complementary pathways that develop confident readers of the Qur'an and, for those who wish to continue further, confident memorizers of the Qur'an.

Our aim is not simply to complete books or cover lessons, but to ensure every child develops the skills, confidence and love needed to continue engaging with the Qur'an long after they leave the Madrassah.
Qur'an Mastery Curriculum:
The Darul Ilm Qur'an Mastery Curriculum is a structured, competency-based programme that guides children from recognising the Arabic alphabet to reading the Qur'an fluently with correct Tajweed.

Rather than progressing simply by completing textbooks, students develop specific reading competencies and build upon them step by step. This ensures that every child develops a secure foundation before moving on to more advanced skills.

The curriculum focuses on four key areas:

Reading Skills:
Recognising letters, joining words and developing confident Arabic reading.

Tajweed:
Learning and applying the rules of Qur'anic recitation correctly.

Fluency:
Developing smooth, confident and natural recitation through regular guided practice
4
Mastery:
Ensuring students demonstrate secure understanding before progressing to the next stage
The programme is organised into five developmental phases:
Students learn the Arabic alphabet, correct pronunciation, letter forms, joining letters and the three short vowels, establishing the essential building blocks of Qur'an reading.
Students develop the ability to read complete Arabic words confidently while learning Sukūn, Tanwīn, Madd, Shaddah and other essential reading features.
Students learn the core rules of Tajweed and begin applying them naturally through guided Qur'anic reading.
Students apply everything they have learned while reading selected portions of the Qur'an with close teacher guidance, improving accuracy and fluency.
Students develop confidence and independence, reading the Qur'an fluently while applying Tajweed consistently and preparing for lifelong recitation.
By the end of the programme, our goal is for every student to leave Darul Ilm as a confident Qur'an reader who can recite accurately, apply the core rules of Tajweed naturally, and continue improving throughout their life.
